WILD in Ecology
Encouraging and empowering undergraduates...
Work skills, inclusivity, leadership, and development
We are a coalition of graduate students in the college of ACES with the common mission to empower and encourage undergraduate students in biological sciences through mentorship. We aim to mentor students in essential skills for career and academic success through workshops, meetings, trips, and one-on-one support.

WILD acknowledges that traditionally excluded students face additional barriers to academic and career opportunities. We see sharing skills as a way to “level the playing field” by offering our first-hand experiences and expertise that can improve professional opportunities for under-represented students.

WILD understands that mentorship is two sided, meaning that we expect to learn from undergraduates in the same way they might learn from us. We also plan to tailor our work to meet the needs and requests of the students we support.

We are inclusive of people of all races, ethnicities, genders, and sexualities including but not limited to BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and women.
Nature walks are a great way to become familiar with the natural world around us. Join us for hikes on local trails to learn about the flora and fauna of the Chihuahuan Desert.
